Change is a constant, and embracing change is what helps you move forward. Unfortunately, most creative producers have a hard time taking this seriously, especially with regard to technology. Following are 4 considerations for every creative producer. If you’re a creative producer, do try to put what you read today into practice.
Don’t fear what’s new
Technology is often evolving and before you get used to one update, there’s another one out there already. It’s true that keeping up with technology can be a tiresome and expensive affair. However, if you want to stay at the top of your game, you need to embrace the “new” in due time.
Also, don’t fear the new stuff. The key to survival lies in adapting. The end consumer doesn’t care for your situation. If they find something that benefits them, they will adopt it and you will be left behind with your stubborn attitude.
So, once again, do not fear what is new; embrace it.
A new piece of technology will not hamper your business, as long as you know how to respond in a strategic manner. Try to understand what the latest technology in town is offering and be open to adopting it. Use it to build your business.
Learn
When sound was incorporated into the film for the first time, actors had to take up diction and elocution coaching to help them speak their lines. Similarly, you must also be willing to learn everything about that new technology that’s revolutionizing your industry.
The willingness to adopt is one thing, but, you also need to learn how to make the most of the technology. Only then will the adoption be worth it. Plus, this attitude will continue helping you as more and more changes keep happening.
Identify and resolve issues
As technology evolves, you will be forced to change several aspects of your work. Simply changing one aspect won’t be enough. Eventually, audiences will notice the gap. For example, when sound was introduced into the film, dialogues had to become more natural and lifelike. Mime-like acting and single lines just didn’t cut it anymore.
So, always be on the lookout for problem areas, identify them, and implement improvements.
Be open to diversity
To really enjoy the benefits of something, you need diversity. For instance, to make the most off the stock market, your financial advisor will ask you to diversify your portfolio. Why does he/she ask you to do this? Well, it’s simply because diverse portfolios provide better returns. When one stock fails, another provides the expected returns.
So, don’t hesitate to innovate or alter existing strategies or processes. Don’t stick to one idea. Try mixing things up a bit. The more open you are to new ideas, the better your productions are likely to be.
